Flame-retardant PVC (1009A-5)

Flame-retardant PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a material derived from standard PVC, enhanced by either the addition of flame retardants or modifications to its molecular structure, giving it the ability to inhibit or slow down combustion. Due to its relatively high chlorine content—approximately 56%—PVC already exhibits some self-extinguishing properties. However, after undergoing flame-retardant treatment, its fire-resistant performance is further improved, making it widely used in industries where fire safety is critical.

Flame-retardant PVC (1009A-5) is a polyvinyl chloride material with excellent flame-retardant properties. It is typically produced by adding specific flame retardants to PVC resin or by employing specialized modification techniques.

Flame-retardant PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a material derived from standard PVC by either adding flame retardants or modifying its molecular structure, giving it the ability to inhibit or slow down combustion. Due to its relatively high chlorine content (around 56%), PVC naturally exhibits some self-extinguishing properties. However, after undergoing flame-retardant treatment, its fire-resistant performance is further enhanced, making it widely used in industries where fire safety is critical.

This material boasts a high oxygen index, potentially meeting or even exceeding the B1 fire-resistance standard—defined as an oxygen index (OI) ≥32%—and exhibits excellent self-extinguishing properties. When exposed to fire, it forms a non-flammable carbonized layer that effectively inhibits flame spread, allowing the material to self-extinguish within 30 seconds after ignition without easily shedding burning debris. Moreover, the material demonstrates impressive chemical stability, electrical insulation, and mechanical performance, making it highly resistant to corrosive chemicals like acids and bases. As a result, it is well-suited for applications such as insulating protection in wires and cables, as well as in construction piping systems. Additionally, depending on specific application requirements, this material may also offer enhanced features like water resistance and tolerance to extreme temperatures, ensuring its adaptability across a wide range of environmental conditions.
